We’ve all been socialized to spend time focusing on what went wrong during situations in our life, asking ourselves, “What can I do better next time?”. While that’s a worthwhile and necessary exercise, so is taking the time to consider what you did right, even if the situation didn’t go totally as planned.
We can’t continue to ignore the good parts of ourselves and the good things we do and say and feel. We must instead nourish these parts of ourselves so they can grow and bleed into more situations in the future. When you take the time to evaluate what you did right, you truly begin to build a success formula that can be repeated when you need it next.
So be sure to set aside a bit of time when you can actually reflect on these things, including taking a hard look at this success formula. Don’t expect it to be perfect, especially right away, but do believe that you’re heading in the right direction. So much of life is about personal growth, and it’s important to remember that success is a continuous process, not a singular outcome.
